New waves of crime create fear in Akure,Akokoland

Residences of Akure the Capital city of Ondo State and Akokoland now live in fear as vagabonds now unleash terror on the once peaceful communities in their quest for antiques and artefacts.

A new wave of crime is currently enveloping the communities as armed youths are now terrorising homes of suspected owners of antiques believed to be in high demand.

Investigation by Sunshine Daily Watch [SDW] within both Akure and Akokoland revealed that some sets of youths within the community are now terrorising the suspected homes where some old antiques like are domiciliary.

The residences of Ikare Akoko during the week had send an SOS to the state police command complaining about the new wave of crime by the youths who are on daily basis attacking homes demanding for artefact s like Old Bedding Decorations, Old Cocoa Fumigating Pumps, Old Hunters Head Lamps, Old Gas  Lamps and Pendulum of Wall Clocks.

The residents who are now living in fear of the incessant raiding by the hoodlums complained to SDW  said what the vagabonds are demanding from their victims are artefacts  which were said to be in high demands.

It is now a constant phenomenon within the locality as homes are been raided and residents are been attacked for not able to provided the assailants with their request of artefacts.

Two weeks ago the members of the St.Thomass’ Anglican Church, Isikan Akure were dumbfounded as they realised to have become one of the victims of the raiding as the ancient Wall Clock inside the cathedrals Alta lost its pendulum to the miscreants.  Further investigation by SDW about what prompted the new wave of crime among the youths revealed that that the quest by the youths to make huge money from the sales of this objects was responsible for the attacks.

These objects are mostly antiquated products that are now been sold for exorbitant prices to some willing buyers.

It was also learnt by SDW from some youths in the street about the real prices of the e metal objects in questions shows that the prices ranges from as low as N50,000 to as high as N100,000 depending of the quality of the ornament .

Some of these artefacts were made of Gold,Silver and Bronze while some are just polish with some quality metals.

Residents who inherited the controversial artefacts from their ancestors are doing every thing possible to jealously guide the vagabonds from stealing the items those suspected artefacts by organising vigilantes on their compounds.

It would be recalled that these wave of crime once bestowed on the nation in the early 90’s [nineties] as some youths were been brainwashed to seek for Mercury inside the NEPA transformers and to go and seek for antiques and idols from shrines.

When thorough investigations were conducted then it turned out to be ruse, a diversionary packaged by some unscrupulous dupers to coarse and distracts some unsuspecting youths
